Relax & unwind in North Norfolk

Fren’s Favourites…

North Norfolk has a stunning coast line and the immediate area has lots of activities to offer from kite flying on the glorious Holkham beach to steam trains at Sheringham and horse racing at Fakenham. If you want to take to the water there are scheduled seal boat trips from Morston or you can charter your own private trip with Blakeney Point Harbour Tours, which is a wonderful way to see the seals and explore the harbour. Nearby Norfolk etc... can take you sailing or teach you to captain a rib. There are miles of quiet country lanes to explore by bike and most villages have a good pub and a pretty church to visit. The North Norfolk coastal path runs through Blakeney, so the area is also ideal for walking or bird watching and a bus runs along the coast road if you don’t feel like the return leg.

If a spot of retail therapy is called for then Holt has a great selection of clothes shops, a family run department store, which has a superb food hall, and plenty of antique shops for those searching for hidden treasure. The pretty little market town of Burnham Market is a ‘must-do’ too.

We’re spoilt for choice when eating out, from the award winning Morston Hall, Neptune Inn and Hoste Arms, to the individual charms of The Wiveton Farm Cafe or the Dun Cow in Salthouse. Some of our other favourites include The George in Cley, Moorings Bistro and Kings Arms in Blakeney, The Wiveton Bell, The Lord Nelson in Burnham Thorpe, the list goes on…

With amazing local produce self-catering couldn’t be easier. Blakeney has a Spar, which is open until 10pm (great for the less organised domestic godess), a lovely deli and a super wet fish shop, both offering tempting fresh produce and prepared meals. The Back to the Garden farm shop is nearby at Letheringsett, sample local brews at The Real Ale shop or pick you own fruit at The Wiveton Farm. Cley has a deli, (with yummy baklava) and an excellent smoke house too.

The North Norfolk Tourist Guide and Visit Norfolk have lots of information on the area and the local radio station keeps a useful list of forthcoming events – and we are always happy to make other suggestions and help with your holiday planning when you make a reservation.
